Characters

I used to have screengrabs on this page but I deleted them because they were from my old DVD set and were bad quality. I have not yet taken new screengrabs, hence the current lack of pictures.

Ed Grimley
Our Intrepid Hero. He lives in Apartment 3 at the Freebus Arms with his pet goldfish Moby, and shares his apartment - and refrigerator - with an obese rat named Sheldon. He is pretty good friends with Wendell, and is infatuated with Tina (whom he respectfully refers to as "the incredibly decent Miss Malone"). If he has a job we never see him at it. He "plays" the triangle and even takes lessons, and dreams of being a a triangle player in a major orchestra some day, even though he has trouble actually making contact between baton and triangle most of the time. He enjoys fast classical music such as the Hungarian Rhapsody, and employs an old-fashioned, hand-cranked phonograph for his listening pleasure. He frequently engages in dancing spastically, both at home and in public. He's made reference to a few family members but we've never actually seen any of them, and he's never mentioned his parents or any siblings. Voiced by Martin Short

Tina Malone
The attractive Miss Malone lives upstairs from Ed with her young brother Wendell, whom she is apparently raising alone. There has never been any mention of the Malones' parents, so it should probably be assumed that they are simply out of the picture. Miss Malone is a stage actress and supports herself and her brother by working as a waitress (or at least she did in one episode) and by taking any acting job she can get. She is a bit of an airhead, and is a rather hackneyed actress. She turned 25 in one episode of the series. Voiced by Catherine O'Hara

Wendell Malone
He might be around...ten, maybe? I'm not sure of his age exactly. Wendell is a bright, precocious kid who happens to be a far better actor than his sister. In fact, he can parrot anyone else's voice exactly. He plays the violin amazingly well, as seen in one epsiode. He likes to hang out with Ed, whom he has nicknamed "Eduardo." Voiced by Danny Cooksey

Leo Freebus
Owner and landlord of the Freebus Arms and the sole maintenence man. He has his hands full dealing with the crumbling old building and Ed's bizarre behavior, as well as his flighty wife and her cackling friends. His idea of a relaxing day is one spent as far away from Ed Grimley as possible. Voiced by Jonathan Winters

Deidre Freebus
Mrs Freebus thinks Ed is a dear and likes dropping by to visit him. She can't understand why her husband is so aggravated by Ed, or by her sister, or her friends, or her hobbies... Voiced by Andrea Martin

Sheldon
Sheldon likes Ed well enough, and provides some company, as he can apparently talk (whether or not animals could talk to people in this series was rather inconsistant). He can't stop eating, and once ate himself right out of his own rathole. Voiced by Martin Short

Moby
Ed is devoted to his pet goldfish Moby, and frequents the nearby "Goldfish Supplies" store to get Moby all the latest amenities. Moby repays him by biting his finger whenever he gets the chance - which is often as Ed hasn't learned to quit poking his finger in Moby's bowl. Voiced by Martin Short

Count Floyd
Host of the moderately-popular children's show "Count Floyd's Scary Stories," Count Floyd is Ed's greatest hero. He spends most of his time trying to convince his audience that he is a real vampire, and reminding them to call him "Count Floyd" and not "Mr. Floyd." He'd like to get some really scary material on his show but somehow he always winds up with some really dumb books, or other things entirely which then have to be improvised with. Played by Joe Flaherty

The Amazing Gustav Brothers
Emil and Roger Gustav are scientist brothers who seem to exist outside of the TCMMoEG universe. They apparently have the ability to observe Ed and his adventures remotely. They provide a science lesson pertaining to the events in the episode (although there was technically no lesson in four episodes). They quarrel ocassionally and their mother appears from time to time. They seem to be from England, of Nordic heritage. Voiced by Martin Short (Emil) and Jonathan Winters (Roger)

(And I'll add in all the oneshot characters too)
