Profile: Megavolt

Elmo Sputterspark was born in St. Canard. His mother is Ermilynne Leigh-Sputterspark, a stoat originally from London, and his father is Red Crow Sputterspark, a muskrat originally from southern Florida. Their daughter Emma was born when Elmo was ten.

Elmo was always an exceptionally bright (and eccentric) youth, constantly rewiring and reinventing common household appliances. His parents had high hopes for his future, although he himself never really thought much about it. He was never a popular kid, keeping to himself, and while he had many acquaintances, he never had any real friends. His constant proccupation with his various projects kept him from ever noticing this, however.

The day before his high school prom (which he had no intention of going to), Elmo was taped to one of his inventions (which generated static electricity) by a class bully. His prolonged exposure (two hours) to the machine had a few effects: Firstly, it endowed Elmo with the ability not only to store electricity but also to expel it (and later he would discover that he had overall control of electrical impulses let alone anything that ran on electricity), and secondly...well, it fried his brain. Memories of his life up until that point became very difficult for him to access, so he basically began to ignore them.

No longer remembering who he was let alone where he lived, Elmo's only thoughts turned to revenge. Of course, he couldn't remember too well who he was angry at...or even why he was angry (other than hating his hair, which now stuck out in a silly-looking afro--he shouldn't have worried, it would soon fall out). But he still wanted revenge, and the next day, wearing a hastily-assembled costume, he crashed the prom with the intention of causing mass destruction. He was stopped by a mysterious duck in a cape and mask, but he escaped.

No one had known that the electricity-spouting delinquent had been none other than Elmo, who hadn't been reported missing yet (the police have this silly rule about someone having to be missing for more than 24 hours before they will officially declare them to be, in fact, missing). After this time, the Sputtersparks began a desperate campaign to find Elmo. They spent years looking for him, never knowing that he was right there in St. Canard the whole time. No one, himself included, suspected that the superpowered criminal Megavolt (who was rapidly becoming infamous) was none other then the unassuming missing teenager Elmo Sputterspark. Eventually, the Sputtersparks sadly gave up their search and moved to Florida to live near Red's family.

Megavolt is now one of St. Canard's most notorious criminals, and on occasion works within the Fearsome Five--although he usually works alone. He wouldn't remember his real name at all anymore if it weren't for Quackerjack, to whom he had told it once when he actually remembered--so Quackerjack now remembers it for him. But it doesn't concern Megavolt who he was or if there is anyone out there who misses him. He lives his life literally for the moment, and that's that.
